Creating cluster definitions

Goal

Cluster definitions in Propeller allow users to create clusters to group products based on shared attributes, enabling structured drill-downs in the front end. This guide walks you through creating a new cluster definition.

Step 1: Access the Cluster Definitions Page

  1. Log in to the Propeller back office.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Cluster Definitions.
  3. You will see a list of existing cluster definitions. Use the search bar to find specific definitions.

Step 2: Create a New Cluster Definition

  1. Click New Cluster Definition.
  2. Enter a Name for the cluster definition (e.g., SHOES_MODEL_X). The cluster definition can be reused for multiple clusters (type of shoes), so a generic name is advised.

Step 3: Add Product Filters

  1. Select the product filters (product attributes) that will be used for drill-down.
    • Product filters must already exist in the system as product attributes before they can be added.
  2. Choose a Display Type for each product filter:
    • Color: Displays a color swatch selection.
    • Dropdown: Presents a dropdown menu.
    • Image: Uses product images as selection options.
    • Radio: Provides radio buttons for selection.

Step 4: Reorder Product Filters (If Needed)

  1. Use the drag-and-drop functionality to arrange product filters in the desired order.
  2. The Priority of the filters determines the order of the drill-down in the front end.

Step 5: Save the Cluster Definition

  1. Click Save to finalize the cluster definition.
  2. The new cluster definition will now be available in the list and can be used to create to clusters.

Best Practices

  • Ensure product attributes exist before adding them as filters.
  • Use clear and descriptive names for cluster definitions.
  • Organize product filters logically to enhance the user experience.
  • Verify the cluster definition with a cluster in the front-end to ensure correct drill-downs.
