Create a new carrier

Goal

To set up a new carrier in the Propeller backoffice, capturing details like carrier name, type, tracking URL and warehouse assignments. This allows you to efficiently manage delivery options and provide accurate information to customers for their shipments.


Step 1: Navigate to the Carriers section

  1. From the backoffice menu, select Shops & Channels and then Carriers.
  2. You will see two tabs: Carrier list and Carrier rules.
  3. Make sure you're on the Carrier list tab.

Step 2: Click on 'New Carrier'

  1. In the Carrier list tab, click the New Carrier button at the top right.
  2. The Edit Carrier dialog will open.

Step 3: Fill in Carrier Information

  1. In the Edit Carrier dialog, complete the following fields:
    • Name: Enter the carrier's name (e.g., DHL)
    • Description (NL): Provide a description in Dutch
    • Select a carrier type: Choose between Delivery or Pickup from the dropdown
    • Track & Trace URL: Add the tracking URL to allow customers to track their shipments
    • Logo url: Provide a URL for the carrier's logo
    • Warehouses: Select which warehouses this carrier operates from

Step 4: Save the Carrier

  1. Once all details are entered, click Save to create the carrier.
  2. The new carrier will appear in your carrier list.
  3. Click Cancel if you want to discard your changes.

Best Practices

  • Use clear, recognizable names for your carriers (e.g., "DHL Express")
  • Include the tracking parameter in your Track & Trace URL (e.g., ?tracking-id=)
  • Assign carriers to the appropriate warehouses
  • Keep carrier information up-to-date, especially tracking URLs
